The Call to Action
Soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen support us in the most extreme circumstances. Still, once they leave the service they experience a disproportionate share of homelessness, poverty, PTSD and substance abuse. At Back in the World we educate, empower and encourage every veteran to take advantage of the services that they need and have earned.
Engage on Day One
We will make materials available for our veterans before they leave the service to help them make their plans, so they can hit the ground running with the best chance at success. We will organize gatherings for our veterans at or near our military bases. These events will serve as opportunities for them to connect with the community and be equipped with the resources needed for their post-service life.
Empower through Technology
We are leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence to develop an intuitive digital platform with a dynamic response system. This platform will streamline the registration process for veterans with the Department of Veterans Affairs, provide easy access to necessary forms, and pinpoint local resources including veteran-supportive financial institutions, VSO branches, and events. It aims to enhance veterans' opportunities for a prosperous and healthy civilian life. Additionally, it will serve as a centralized digital hub, fostering connections within the broader veteran community and the supportive networks surrounding it.
Provide Legal Advice
Transitioning veterans encounter various legal hurdles as they reintegrate into civilian life. These challenges span military discharge issues, family law concerns (such as custody or divorce), housing instability due to eviction threats, educational benefit complexities, and even criminal defense matters. These stressors can significantly hinder their ability to lead a productive post-military life. Our commitment is to connect veterans with lawyers who are willing to provide pro bono legal advice and representation.
